With Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and The Dark Knight hero Christian Bale already signed up for The Deep Blue Good-By, the James Mangold flick is already boasting the beginnings of a stellar cast. Now it appears Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and Transformers beauty Nicola Peltz will be joining the cast also.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dinklage will be playing a mathematician who made a fortune thanks to an app that ends up being Travis McGee’s (Bale) sidekick. Peltz’s character will accordingly be a woman who ends up on the wrong side of torture with McGee. Dinklage is always a brilliant choice, with his role in Game of Thrones just adding to his popularity. If you haven’t seen the latest Transformers disaster, you might recognize Peltz from creepy TV series, Bates Motel. With Transformers just being awful and Peltz not really winning me over on Bates Motel, it will be interesting to see what she’s really made of in a flick of this style and magnitude.
Dennis Lehane has been working on the latest script which re-imagines McGee as an Afghan War vet on the trail of some stolen sapphires, leading him down a dark and dangerous path of sadistic torture. I’m not familiar with the original novel but I like the general premise and Dinklage in anything is a winner for me. I’m really hoping Peltz gets given a decent role this time round! Keep an eye out for more news here.
