Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan is confirmed to play Doctor Fate, who is also known as Kent Nelson, in the upcoming DC superhero movie Black Adam.

Black Adam is the second New Line DC film, after its commercial hit Shazam! released back in 2019. The production is confirmed to start in April in Atlanta.

This will be Brosnan’s debut in the world of super-hero cinema. His character Kent Nelson is a son of an American archaeologist, who stumbles on vast magical powers when exploring a foreign country. He is taught sorcery skills and given the magical Helmet of Fate.

As a matter of fact, Dr. Fate made his first appearance in 1940’s More Fun Comics No.5 created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, making him one of the oldest DC characters.

Pierce Brosnan is the latest major actor to join the rest of the cast including the Aladdin and The Old Guard actor Marwan Kenzari, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindel as well as Dwayne Johnson as the eponymous protagonist.

It is known that Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra meaning that the upcoming project will reunite the rest o the team who worked previously on Jungle Cruise which is set to premiere July 30.

Originally scheduled at December 22, 2021, the film will not stick to the deadline due to the pandemic production delays. The new premiere date is still unknown.
