Music superstar Billie Eilish has just unveiled her latest song. Entitled “Lost Cause”, it will be a part of her highly-anticipated upcoming album Happier Than Ever that is set to be released on July 30.
The song is a hushed and trip-hop adjacent song about declaring one’s independence. “Lost cause” is a catchy tune with some impactful lyrics. The seven-time Grammy-winning artist is singing over a slinky bassline and laid-back drum beat.
It seems to be about an ex-boyfriend and Billie seems very confident about her decision: “I used to wish you were mine but that was way before I realized someone like you would always be so easy to find.”
The chorus’s lyrics and melody will be easily stuck in your head while we can hear Bille singing “Tought you had your sh*t together, but damn, I was wrong / You ain’t nothing but a lost cause.”
The single is coming with its music video that was directed by Eilish herself. On it, we can see the pop star dancing with friends, enjoying a game of Twister as well as playing with water pistols at a house party.
“Lost Cause” is marking the fourth single from her sophomore album after the singles “My Future”, “Therefore I Am”, and “Your Power”. According to Billie Eilish, this song is one of her favorites.
Happier Than Ever is following Eilish’s 2019 debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go and was mostly recorded throughout 2020. Like her previous album, this one was co-written and produced by her brother Finneas and recorded in Los Angeles.
When she announced her new project, Eilish described it as “my favorite thing I’ve ever created.” She also added: “I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what I feel.”
