Groaning synths layered on top of more spellbinding key punches are hitting all the right notes here to create a piece of dreamy pop perfection. The soothing vocals of Richard Saunders (one half of Refs) give “My Pain Goes Away” the futuristic R&B edge which has been merrily trending in the blogosphere of recent times. For a debut release, this is a highly impressive piece of polished production, credit to Andrew Maury of indie-pop remix maestros RAC where it is clearly due. Little is known about Refs, other than that they hail from NYC as a vocalist and producer duo, their Soundcloud is currently barren except for this song – we can only hope for more material such as this to arrive online soon.
