‘Rick & Morty’ Co-Creator Dan Harmon Working On New Animated Series For FOX|TV News

 

Dan Harmon, the co-creator of world-wide famous series Rick & Morty, has announced a new animated comedy series, which will be produced by Bento Box Entertainment for FOX. The untitled series set in ancient Greece will reportedly premiere in 2022.

 

The plot for the untitled show is centered on one of the first cities on Earth which is run by humans, gods and monsters. The series is rumored to have political undertone, which could mean that we will see Greek gods as today’s major politicians and public figures. The voice casting for the series is also still in the works.

 

Harmon recently signed an animation deal with Fox Entertainment in 2020, this this ancient Greece series will be the first product of this deal. Michael Thorn, Fox’s President of Entertainment commented on this: “leave it to Dan Harmon to turn the mythos of early Greek civilization into a remarkably sharp commentary on today’s politics, celebrity and pop culture”.

 

He also added: “This project is an incredibly irreverent family comedy as told by one of the town’s most inventive storytellers. We are proud to be partnered with Dan on this series, which strengthens our hold on the animation space and, as we continue to build Fox Entertainment, marks an important first step for us with our first fully-owned scripted property”.

 

Harmon has also confirmed that Rick and Morty team started working on the seventh season of the show for Cartoon Network. He joked that, “due to the coronavirus pandemic the show was more on schedule than it has ever been“.
