Rihanna Shines With Feathered Carnival Look At Crop Over Festival | Fashion News

Rihanna never misses the Crop Over Festival in her home country Barbados at the end of the summer, which celebrates an annual Kadooment Day parade that began on the sugar cane plantation during slavery.

This year, the musician thrilled her fans and fashion lovers with an incredible glittering feathered confection. The singer accompanied the extravagant dress with green eyeshadow make-up, and her hair worn in Bantu knots. The metallic pink high heels and the diamante glasses made her look even more fabulous.

The Barbie-pink dress that the star wore was the work of David LaPort, who defines his designs as “light, feminine and classic but always with edge”. The Amsterdam-based designer, best known as the 2017 Woolmark Prize winner, posted an image of the singer on his Instagram wearing his lovely design, saying, “SHINE BRIGHT IN PINK!”, reminding us of the wonderful RiRi song “Diamond”.

So how did this collaboration come about? Well LaPort was contacted by Rihanna’s stylist Jahleel Weaver, who was interested in his Spring/Summer 2019 collection. “Jahleel asked especially for the pink feathers, so five co-workers and I spent some nights making it for her – it was a no-brainer!”, the Dutch designer confirmed. Fortunately, an Italian company sourced two hundred and fifty feathers for the plumage of the minidress.
