Robert Downey Jr. Announces ‘Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle’ Voice Cast | Film News

Robert Downey Jr., the lead star in live action-animation film The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, has just shared film’s stellar voice cast. Some of the newly added names include Octavia Spencer, John Cena and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick).

This film, of course, isn’t the first adaptation of 1920 classic children books, written by Hugh Lofting. Dr. Dolittle, a veterinarian, able to communicate with animals, was already portrayed by Rex Harrison in 1967 and Eddie Murphy in 1998.

The newest revamp will be a hybrid of live action and animation. While Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Harry Collett and Jim Broadbent will have live-action roles, others will voice the animals.

The Marvel fandom might find it interesting, that the Iron Man star Downey Jr. is teaming up again with the Spider-Man: Homecoming lead actor Tom Holland to depict a somewhat comparable relationship – Holland will voice Dr. Dolittle’s dog Jip.

Previously announced part of the cast features the likes of Selena Gomez, Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes (best known as Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter saga) and others. See more of them in this detailed pictured, shared by Downey Jr. on Twitter:
