Robert Downey Jr. Producing DC Comics Adaptation ‘Sweet Tooth’ For Netflix | TV News

Robert Downey Jr. may have been the face of the MCU for over a decade, but now he’s switching sides to DC! Well, sort of. Via his Team Downey production company, he’s executive producing an adaptation of DC Comics’ Sweet Tooth for Netflix.

Based on Jeff Lemire‘s creation, the series will be a live action family-friendly fantasy drama. The story revolves around Gus, who is half-deer, half-boy. He’s happy at home in the forest, but must leave home to help save the outside world from a terrible, apocalyptic event.

Can he join a ragtag crew of characters — some of whom are also human-animal hybrids — save the world, and figure out his identity in the process?

Child actor Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy) has already been cast in the lead role, while Will Forte, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar and James Brolin make up the supporting cast, with Brolin narrating the whole show. Jim Mickle (Cold In July) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow) will serve as co-showrunners.

Downey Jr.’s post-MCU world hasn’t exactly gotten off to the greatest start with Dolittle turning out to be a disaster. Perhaps he can have better luck in the producing sphere. He’s also producing HBO’s upcoming Perry Mason, which stars Matthew Rhys as the legendary lawyer.
