Robert Plant Covers Elbow’s ‘The Blanket Of Night’ For British Red Cross | Music News

Ex-Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has recorded Elbow’s “The Blanket Of Night” for a compilation album directed to helping the refugee crisis in Europe. The song is from Elbow 2014 album The Take Off And Landing Of Everything with the song portraying a refugee couple travelling across the dangerous sea by boat and worrying about their lives. “Paper cup of a boat, Heaving chest of the sea, Carry both of us or, Swallow her, Swallow Me“.

 

The singer is working with The British Red Cross for the project, Plant talked about the crisis, saying “We have a worldwide international catastrophe, Talking about it is one thing, doing something about it is another. The position we are in, it’s paramount we all do our best one way or another to help”. The compilation album titled The Long Road will be released on March 4, 2016, and can be pre-ordered now. You can watch the video below:
