Russell Crowe, Nicholas Hoult Among Cast Of ‘True History of the Kelly Gang’ | Film News
Australian feature True History of the Kelly Gang has just announced a major cast, with Aussie Russell Crowe and Brit Nicholas Hoult leading the big names.
George MacKay and Stranger Things‘ Dacre Montgomery join them alongside Essie Davis (The Babadook, Game of Thrones) and Travis Fimmel (Vikings). Sean Keenan, Harry Greenwood, Thomasin McKenzie and Earl Cave round out the cast.
Ttrue History of the Kelly Gang comes from director Justin Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed, Macbeth), based on the book by Peter Carey and adapted for the screen by screenwriter Shaun Grant. The story follows Ned Kelly (MacKay), one of the world’s greatest outlaws, and the colonial badlands from which he rose.
Liz Watts (Porchlight Films), Hal Vogel (Daybreak Pictures) and Brad Feinstein (Romulus Entertainment) produce, with Vincent Sheehan, Carey and David Aukin, and Joseph F. Ingrassia executive producing from the respective companies.
Filming is set to begin in Australia in 2018.
