Russo Brothers Insist Each Character Will Get Enough Screen Time In ‘Captain America: Civil War’ | Film News

With the battle between team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and team Captain America (Chris Evans) bound to take up a huge chunk of Civil War, many fans have been left wondering whether all the respective characters will get enough screen time in the upcoming sequel, and enough material to make us actually care about which side they choose.

However, it seems director Joe and Anthony Russo are keen to address this issue, and have opened up about how such a large ensemble of actors, such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp), will not be overshadowed by Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, the directing duo explained they took a considerable amount of time in ensuring each of their beloved characters received a special part in the movie in an attempt to please fans who differ on favourite character: “Even though it’s Cap’s movie, and the ultimate way we decide where to go with the film is filtered through Cap’s perspective, we do take time and walk ourselves through the story from every single character’s point of view as if it’s their movie“.

We know how important these characters are. We love these characters ourselves. We know that there’s somebody sitting out there in the audience whose favorite character is that one, even if that character has only a few scenes in the movie“.

They continued, addressing how even those with limited screen time will contribute an individual essence to the film: “We want to make sure everyone’s coming to the movie and it’s going to get a lot of satisfaction and have a lot of fun with what’s being done with their favorite character in the movie, regardless of who it is. We work really hard to do a lot and do something special with characters who may only have limited screen time in the film“.

Personally, I have been incredibly worried about the sheer enormity of the cast for Civil War. It’s all very well cramming our favourite heroes into one movie, but it’s essential that the Russo brothers tell the audience how and why each of the Avengers choose their side.
