The Critics Choice Awards unveiled their 2023 nominees on Wednesday, capping up the December flood of award nominations and critics’ choice awards.

Like many critics organizations before them, they have a few clear favorites. The Fabelmans came in second with eleven nominations, behind Everything Everywhere All At Once with 14 nominations, and there was a surprise late-breaking contender in Babylon with nine nominations despite mixed early reviews.

The 14 nominations for the Michelle Yeoh-starring movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, included nods for best picture, best comedy, best actress, best supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan), and best-supporting actress (Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu).

In addition, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert received nominations for best original script and best director, respectively.

With eleven nominations, The Fabelmans came in second. Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner were nominated for best original screenplay and best director, respectively. Additionally honored with nominations were the cast members Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Judd Hirsch, and Gabriel LaBelle.

Elvis and Tar both received seven nominations, while Damien Chazelle‘s Babylon and Martin McDonagh‘s The Banshees of Inisherin received nine nods, respectively.

In the best picture category, which has 11 candidates overall, the remaining films are Avatar: The Way of Water, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, RRR, Top Gun: Maverick, and Women Talking. The Critics Choice Association added ten nominees to the best director category.

Abbott Elementary received the most TV nominations, according to the Critics Choice Association, with six. Followed by Better Caul Saul with five nominations, while Gaslit, Reservation Dogs, and The Good Fight tied for fourth place with four nods each.

At the ceremonies next year, which will be hosted by Chelsea Handler and take place on January 15 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, Jeff Bridges will be presented with the Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award.
