Sony Release First Trailer For ‘Bloodshot’ With Vin Diesel | Film Trailer

Sony has released the first trailer for their latest comic book adaptation, Bloodshot. It stars Vin Diesel as a soldier (no, really) brought back from the dead by Rising Spirit Technologies via nanotechnology. He’s suffered total memory loss, and struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he’s become with the help of a group of other augmented combatants.

Unfortunately, the trailer below essentially walks you through the film beat-by-beat, so if you want any sort of surprises left, it’s best to skip it. Even more unfortunately, it pretty much looks like every Vin Diesel film ever. For his fans, that’s encouraging news. For others that were naively hoping for something a little different, it’s a disappointment.

The film is based on the comic character of the same name, created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton. Bloodshot has sold more than 8 million comic books worldwide and the 2012 revival led to prestigious Eisner and Harvey awards.

Eric Heisserer (Arrival) has penned the script, which is more promising, alongside Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2). Dave Wilson (Love Death + Robots) is directing. The film also reunites Diesel with Fast & Furious producer Neal Moritz, which might help explain why the film essentially feels like a comic book version of that franchise.

Bloodshot hits cinemas worldwide on February 21, 2020.
