Sony To Relaunch The Walkman For £949 | Music News

Sony have launched a new version of their iconic Walkman music player; the NW-ZX2, showcasing a battery life of 60 hours and a 128GB memory… plus a retail price of £949. The original cassette Walkman launched in 1979 and boasted 220 million sales, before the brand was phased out. The newly launched NW-ZX2 truly accommodates the modern life by also being Wi-Fi compatible and used in conjunction with the Google play store. However, it was also announced earlier today that Neil Young’s ‘Pono Player’ has been launched and is available online for a price of £260. Neil Young states the Pono player dedicates itself to “bringing true emotion and detail of the music, the way the artist recorded it, to life“. Will the new Walkman be worth the price tag? We shall see – it will go on sale in Europe in the next several months.
