Tei Shi + Blood Orange – Even If It Hurts | Music Video

Indie pop singer-songwriter Tei Shi has teamed up with Blood Orange for a new track “Even If It Hurts”. The song comes with a scenic music video and is featured on the Tei Shi’s forthcoming sophomore album La Linda.

Canadian-Colombian vocalist Tei Shi, real name Valerie Teicher, is back with a brand new single “Even If It Hurts”, featuring lines from English singer-songwriter Dev Hynes, better known as Blood Orange. He also served as the track’s co-producer, alongside Noah Breakfast.

Tei Shi’s most recent offering is lifted from her second studio album named La Linda, which lands on November 15 via Downtown. The follow-up to 2017’s Crawl Space also includes the previously unveiled singles “A Kiss Goodbye” and “Red Light”.

“Even If It Hurts” marks the second collaboration between Tei Shi and Dev Hynes. Last year, the Canadian-Colombian singer featured on “Hope”, a track taken from Blood Orange’s highly praised fourth LP Negro Swan. In a recent statement, Tei Shi opened up about her latest duet with the English producer:

“It came together in pieces between L.A. and New York but sprouted from the lyrics Dev and I kept on singing – ‘even if it hurts…I just don’t mind’. The concept is really the realization and acceptance that pain is a natural consequence of love. It’s a duet about the ways in which we make ourselves vulnerable to those we love, sometimes at a high cost”.

“Even If It Hurts” is accompanied by a Cara Stricker-directed video, which sees Teicher and Hynes trade lines in a lush, overgrown paradise. “I wanted to capture the romantic and melancholic elements of the song but put them in a world that feels removed from the every day, its own little odd paradise where Dev and I existed parallel to one another but never really together”, Tei Shi explained.
