The Go! Team – Blowtorch | New Music

Indie-Popsters The Go! Team have hit their UK fans with a double whammy of excitement by releasing a new single and announcing their first UK show in over four years. “Blowtorch” is their tune out of the woodwork since the rather long hiatus and is a song ready to burst at the amplifier in a wall of powdery pop that is layered into something loud and brash.

Bandleader Ian Parton told The Line of Best Fit“I wrote ‘Blowtorch’ on an acoustic but when it came to the recording I had the idea of building it from chords from loads of different sources, so say the G chord was a second sample from one song, the D chord from totally different kind of song and it went on”.

The contrast of rough guitars and melodic female vocals is reminiscent of Sleigh Bells at their heaviest. It’s catchy but it isn’t comfortable to listen to, this song seems to simply announce a return for the Brightonians in as loud a fashion as possible. The six-piece band are set to play the London Village Underground on 17th June, with tickets for the show on sale Thursday 12th February.
