‘The Goonies’ Director Richard Donner Confirms Sequel | Film News
The director of classic 1985 film The Goonies, Richard Donner will be directing the film’s sequel. Donner revealed the information to gossip website TMZ after being asked if he would ever direct a comic book film. The director also hopes to cast all the actors from the original film in the sequel. Donner, who also directed the 1978 Superman film starring Christopher Reeve has also hinted in the past at turning the ‘Goonies’ into a stage musical.
The Goonies film followed a group of pre-teens who go on the hunt for pirate treasure upon finding out that they will lose their homes due to a new country club being built in their place. Steven Spielberg acted as a producer for the film. The 83-year old directed his last film 16 Blocks starring Mos Def in 2006.
