‘The Revenant’ On Schedule For Christmas Day 2015 Release | Film News

Hollywood and British stars DiCaprio and Hardy join acting talents under consistently successful Inarritu for upcoming film, The Revenant.

The hugely anticipatory The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, is set for a Christmas Day 2015 release. The film was shot and made by multiple award winning director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, who was behind the hugely successful and innovative dark comedy, Birdman, which swept accolades last year.

DiCaprio will be portraying Hugh Glass, a historical explorer and frontiersman; the star’s last appearance was in The Wolf of Wall Street, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, but to many fans’ disappointment, failed to obtain the elusive trophy. British heavyweight star, Hardy, depicts John Fitzgerald, Glass’ opposition – he also played a lead role in Lawless, another contemporary western.

In the 19th century, Glass is mauled by a bear while hunting and his companions rob him and leave him to die, but he survives and proceeds to get revenge on the men who have betrayed him. The upcoming western thriller also stars Will Poulter, Domhnall Gleeson and Lukas Haas. With British and Hollywood actors and filmmakers of this magnitude collaborating, the film promises increasing hype over the next half-a-dozen months and hopefully a great film come Christmas day too.
