Tim Burton Confirms ‘Beetlejuice 2’, With Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder Set To Return | Film News

Fans of Beetlejuice, get ready, because the 1988 horror-comedy is as close as it’s ever been to getting its’ sequel underway.

Just shy of three decades since the sequel’s predecessor hit our screens, director/auteur Tim Burton has spilled the beans that he is to helm the project; and not only this, but original cast members Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are set to reprise their roles as Beetlejuice and Barbara Maitland. He stated:

“The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.” (Via Showbiz Spy)

As exciting as this news is, we can only assume it will be a while still before production is underway. Burton has a full plate having just wrapped Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and finished work producing  Alice Through the Looking Glass. In addition to this, Tim is also still on board to direct the live-action adaptation of the 1941 Disney classic, Dumbo.
