Tom Hardy Drops Out Of ‘Suicide Squad’ Movie | Film News

We’ve got some seriously bad news for Tom Hardy fans and those who were excited for the up and coming Suicide Squad movie, as it looks like Hardy has dropped out of the antihero flick. While there are no confirmed reasons why Hardy is out but rumours about an extended shoot for The Revenant opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and the up and coming press circuit for Mad Max: Fury Road, are all subject to speculation. So the question on everybody’s lips is, who will step in for this Hollywood leading man?

According to The Wrap, a replacement may have already be found in Nightcrawler actor Jake Gyllenhaal. While Gyllenhaal has never taken on a superhero role before, he has muscled up to play such roles as Dastan in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

While I’m sure plenty of fans are gutted about the loss of Hardy, while many others are excited for the prospect of Gyllenhaal in the role, I’m actually rooting for somebody lesser known to step into the role and blow audiences away. Due to Hardy’s great performances as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, I always thoughts I’d, and perhaps others, would be able to see him in another super-villain role so perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for Suicide Squad enthusiasts.

While fans will no doubt be split about the latest Suicide Squad news, you can’t deny there’s still a stellar cast waiting for our adoration. Still starring Margo Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevigne; Suicide Squad is slated to hit theatres on August 5, 2016.
