Toni Collette, perhaps best known for The Sixth Sense and Little Miss Sunshine, is returning to TV in a six-part drama from playwright Nick Payne and director Luke Snellin. Entitled Wanderlust, the series will debut in the UK on BBC One, followed by a global release on Netflix.

According to The Wrap, “Wanderlust centers on a multi-generational family led by therapist Joy Richards (Collette), who is trying to rekindle her romance with her husband after a cycling accident“.

On her involvement in the project, Collette commented, “I am honored and thrilled to work with Nick Payne’s wonderful words on Wanderlust. It is an authentic and revolutionary story about relationships, sex, love and all the things we really care about. I could not be more excited.”

Payne reciprocates the excitement, particularly in regards to having BBC and Netflix as significant launchpads for the series, calling the cast – which includes Steven Mackintosh, Zawe Ashton and Royce Pierreson – “a galaxy of talent“. He continues, “Toni Collette is an astronomically adept performer, and someone I’ve long admired.”

Filming is currently underway in Manchester.
