Travis Scott – Stop Trying To Be God | Music Video

Less than one week after the release of the long awaited new album, preceded by the launch of his exclusive merch line and the anticipation of two official album covers shot by legendary David LaChapelle, now the first video from Astroworld has arrived.

Genius Travis Scott succeeded in putting big names together for a memorable clip full of hidden meanings and at a high level of representation. The “Stop Trying To Be God” video is directed by Dave Meyers, and looks like a kind of blasphemous but ironic Christian idealisation.

But the message in the lyrics is much more deep: he’s referring to avoid using the celebrity status and stop believing you are a God. In the clip he’s the protagonist, he walks with sheep, he baptizes a group of people in a sort of swimming pool and make them dance, he rides a demon out of hell but then he finishes destroyed by a laser-eyed God.

An unexpected Kylie Jenner also makes an appearance in the video as a golden, angelic Virgin Mary figure, holding a newborn lamb; Scott’s partner gave birth to their first daughter Stormi Webster last February, and many of the contents of Astroworld tracks are indeed dedicated and devoted to his family.

The melodic-rap song features Philip Bailey, James Blake, Kid Cudi and Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Long anticpated but a great final result for Astroworld and its universe.
