UK Afrobeats Rising Star Damola Davis Returns With ‘Dinner’ Video | Music News

Following the success of his last single “Oshomo” and his 2020 EP Flavour, London-based Nigerian afrobeats artist and musician Damola Davis is back with a brand new single. The single is entitled “Dinner” and is featuring his fellow UK Afrobeats artist Mowille.

The single is also coming with a captivating music video, made in a Hollywood blockbuster-esque style. It was filmed in London and directed by Mnny Adymi. “Dinner” was produced by Vikywn Beats and released via Spoilt Kid Music Group. This afrobeats song has R&B and afropop leaning to which we can add the Yoruba rap from Mowille.

Damola Davis is delivering us lyrics about love and betrayal and how, according to him, “even the hardest of hearts can be vulnerable when it comes to love.” The music video is weaving its own tale about betrayal and brings the song to life.

Damola Davis also adds, about his inspiration behind “Dinner” that “the songwriting for this song wasn’t planned. My producer Vikwyn Beats sent me the instrumental while I was in the studio with Mowille, and as soon as I heard it, the flows started dropping.

The message I was trying to pass through the song, which was portrayed in the music video, was how vulnerable we can all be when it comes to our feelings and love. When you think of a ‘Kingpin’ or ‘Godfather’, you think of someone who is hard-hearted and trusts no one, but even they have their weaknesses, which in this case is falling for someone”.

The London-based artist is in a new era of fast-rising UK-based afrobeats artists taking the scene by storm and you should keep an eye on Damola Davis in 2021. We can find the authentic afrobeats rhythms in his music that he mixed perfectly with his smooth vocal tones and melodic pop sensibilities. Well hidden we can also find the influences from dancehall and black British music. Damola Davis doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.
