United Colors Of Benetton Takes A Stand On The Aquarius Case | Politics
United Colors Of Benetton have shocked the internet with their new commercial carrying a strong theme: Immigration.
Recently there was a verbal altercation between the company and Italy’s new intern minister Matteo Salvini. The argument ensued over the company’s new ad campaign. The ad show migrants in life jackets being saved by volunteers from the charity SOS Méditerranée. It was a provocation fuelled by the Aquarius case occurring a few days ago. Matteo Salvini has stated that he will never buy clothes from them again.
Famous photography designer Oliviero Toscani was the man behind this ad campaign for the company. In fact, he has been working for United Colors of Benetton for over 20 years but left the company a few years only to come back with this commercial now. During their long partnership, Oliviero Toscani has been aggravating towards the church – the first case of shockvertising – and racists.
