Vancouver Artist Mauvey Returns With New Track ‘I’m The Ish’ | Music News

Mauvey has dropped a new song titled “I’m The Ish” that no one can get enough. Fluctuating between R&B singing and rapping, the Vancouver artist can do it all. The new track has a bouncy alt-pop melody that blends peppy high pitched percussion with thumping 808s and a lot of confidence in his vocals.

The song was produced by French Pirates and when explaining his inspiration for the track, Mauvey says, “I’M THE ISH is about confidence. It’s about going after what you want without hesitation. I’M THE ISH means that finally, I’m not afraid to wear my confidence and use it. I want it to mean the same for everyone that listens to it”.

Born in Ghana and based in Vancouver, he lived between London and Canada throughout his childhood, drawing influence from both these countries musical cultures. Artistically, he’s inspired by Michael Jackson, Andre 3000, The Weeknd and Childish Gambino.

Back in 2020, he was awarded the prestigious MOBO Help Musicians Fund, as well as gaining significant air time on Huw Stephens’ BBC Music Introducing on Radio 1 and Jams Supernova’s show on Selector Radio. He is a very promising artist from what I have seen.
