When you think of Tom Hiddleston, you don’t automatically think of Hank Williams. The two men seem very far apart. He is an unexpected choice to play Hank since he is a Brit best known for playing Loki in the Marvel universe. That’s quite a leap from Montgomery, Alabama where William’s music career began. However, the first trailer for the upcoming biopic I Saw The Light will make you reconsider.

In the dark and brooding trailer, we see Hiddleston channelling the country legend and from what I can see, he seems to have delivered a rather enthralling performance. If there’s one thing British actors can do very well, it is perfecting an American accent. Just look at Hugh Laurie in House M.D., or Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead or perhaps the masterful Tim Roth in Reservoir Dogs.

We are also offered a glimpse of Elizabeth Olsen as his afflicted first wife Audrey Sheppard Williams. “Everybody has a little darkness in them”, Hiddleston, as Williams, says in the trailer. “I’m talking about things like anger, sorrow, shame. I show it to ’em, and they hear it, and they don’t have to take it home. Country music, it’s sincere”. The film is slated for a February 5, 2016 release in the UK, check out the trailer below:
