The first trailer for the final installment in the Hunger Games saga Mockingjay Part 2 has been released today. Following a departure from the action packed earlier films, Mockingjay Part 1 was a story building and politics heavy feature, leaving some fans disappointed. What it did achieve was to set the stage and provide a great platform for the last movie to launch from.
If the trailer is to be believed, the danger and excitement created by the technology of the Hunger Games arena (now destroyed) will be back in full force in defense of the capitol. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her area 13 rebel army will have to face all kinds of gnarly traps and monsters on their last mission to stamp out the President’s evil dictatorship and kick the butts of his freaky fashionista followers.
Book fans will be salivating to see the realization of the geography and scale of these scenes, we get a taste of the vastness here, crowds of thousands gather in formation to hear another one of those Katniss motivational speeches as she fires the first arrow, an enormous tide of certainly deadly black fluid floods the city, threatening to drown the rebels.
The trailer also shows us snippets of character development, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) looks recovered from his spout of homicidal mania, having a heartfelt hug with Katniss. Effie (Elizabeth Banks) got her powdered, feathered groove back in full wardrobe once more. Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) beams with mentor-ish pride and a wedding takes place for Finnick (Sam Claflin) and his reunited love Annie (Stef Dawson). The movie will be released this autumn, check the trailer out for yourselves;
