What do you do if you’re a former boy-band star, who wants to keep making music? You could launch a solo career, but that always involved a certain amount of risk. Or, if you’re Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, you could test the waters of a potential solo career, but representing your home country of Ireland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in May.
For the past 3 years, Byrne has been involved with Eurovision by presenting the Irish scores live on TV. Now, 2016 will be his chance to step in to the spotlight, when he takes to the stage to belt out his entry “Sunlight”. I think Byrne has the sound and stylings of Brandon Flower, former frontman of The Killers, which is not a bad thing.
