Women Are ‘Still The Most Marginalized Group’ In Society Says Madonna | Music News

Pop veteran Madonna has remarked on Patricia Arquette’s recent Oscar Award acceptance speech, where she spoke out about equal pay and gender equality, by claiming women are not making the same progress as gay people and African Americans in society. In an interview with Out Magazine, the famous singer had this to say: “Gay rights are way more advanced than women’s rights. People are a lot more open-minded to the gay community than they are to women, period… It’s moved along for the gay community, for the African-American community, but women are still just trading on their ass. To me, the last great frontier is women”. Madonna also addresses the way women are expected to behave in a certain way and generally not appreciated as much in the music industry, referring to recent comments by Bjork in which the singer stated she struggled to get credit for her artistic ideas.
