‘Wonder Woman’: The Best Superhero Film I’ve Seen In Years | Film Review

Wonder Woman is a 2017 fantasy film directed by Patty Jenkins (known for Monster and the TV show Arrested Development). It stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Lucy Davis and David Thewlis.

A synopsis for Wonder Woman reads:

Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.”

I would like to start off by saying I absolutely loved Wonder Woman. I believe it’s the best superheroes film I’ve seen in years. I won’t be surprised if it will do really well in the box office. I felt that the dramatic and comedic elements were in perfect balance, where jokes were well timed and delivered even better. There is undeniable chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine and Lucy Davis steals the show as Pine’s secretary.

A plus for this film is its theme song, which will be immediately recognisable after you’ve heard it. It’s used in key moments of the film, adding to the weight of the already powerful action. Also, there is a nice song called, “To Be Human” by Labrinth and Sia, used for the credits. Stay and listen to the song, and you’ll thank me later.

The only negative thing I would say about this movie is that it had a weak villain: a German officer, but I felt more like it was just war in general that the main characters were fighting against. I loved the special effects and I think this movie has to be seen in 3D, as the visual effects will absolutely mesmerise you. The moments filmed in slow motion added value to a perfect cinematic piece.

The film is well rounded and the plot never disappoints. The humour is fresh and relatable, and the acting is top class! I really loved the costumes and thought they were realistic. The fight choreography is some of the best I’ve seen in a while! This film is not to be missed and if I were to give it a mark it would be a 9 out of 10.

Wonder Womanis out in cinemas everywhere !
