Sony’s upcoming Venom film is already generating plenty of hype, and it already has an impressive cast that includes Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, and another big name is now in talks to join the cast.

Woody Harrelson is in talks to join the film, which would reunite him with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, who’s directing the film based on a script by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower).

Details on Harrelson’s potential role are being kept under wraps, however Variety did note that he may play a henchman of sorts. That Harrelson’s role is being kept a secret is no surprise, as the whole film has been clouded in mystery from the start. Apart from knowing that Hardy will play the titular anti-hero, we don’t know exactly who any other cast member is playing.

Assuming Harrelson signs on, the cast has come together very nicely for a film that fans have been clamouring for ever since the widely panned use of Venom in 2007’s Spiderman 3. There should be new info on plot details and who is playing who quite soon, as Venom is set to hit cinemas October 5, 2018.
