‘World War Z’ Sequel Set For Release In June 2017 | Film News

Talk of a sequel to the half a billion dollar grossing World War Z (2013) has been on the cards for a while, and we are pleased to hear it is now confirmed for release on June 9, 2017. Director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) and screenwriter Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises) will collaborate on the Paramount and Skydance project, and there’s even talk of Brad Pitt reclaiming his role as producer via Plan B Entertainment. Although no plot details have been released as of yet, there’s certainly enough original material in Max Brooks’ source novel for the film to refer to and I know we’re all looking forward to seeing more 28 Days Later-esque beast-mode zombies wrecking havoc on society at large.
