‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Storyline Could Be On The Cards | Film News

X men 2

There have been numerous entries in the X-Men franchise over the years, but perhaps the most well-received was Days of Future Past; not only because it had an awesome storyline, but because it reset the canon on the cinematic franchise and thereby undid the damage of the dreaded X-Men: The Last Stand. 20th Century Fox are now in a position to take the film series in a new direction if they so wish; the world’s their oyster.

One thing that The Last Stand is disliked for is for the way it completely botched the chance to tell the Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix story. However, with the canon no longer an issue now, this is something we may get to see retold in a future entry. It is certainly something that is up for grabs and when asked about the possibility, producer Simon Kinberg had this to say:

Sure. I think everything that hasn’t been told from First Class and Days of Future Past is up for grabs going forward. So, it would absolutely be a story that we could tell in a different way“. Bryan Singer, however, was more guarded in his answer: “You never know, but as far as the idea of that brewing within her, I could, without giving anything away, say absolutely, you may find a piece of that in this film“.

So, the Dark Phoenix storyline has been considered by the people at the helm of the franchise and Bryan Singer may perhaps be working towards it in a subtle was in X-Men: ApocalypseApocalypse is the next entry in the mutant franchise and will reintroduce characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler as they battle the eponymous villain. Bryan Singer will also return to direct and we can expect to see X-Men: Apocalypse reach us on May 27. Check out the trailer below.
