‘X-Men: The New Mutants’ Leads The List Of Anticipated Superhero Films Of 2018 | Film News

Over the past few years, superhero movies have taken over Hollywood, with Marvel and DC leading the onslaught with their respective cinematic universes, and not to be undone, the American TV industry also has its fair share of superhero influx, from Arrow and Gotham to The Flash and Daredevil. However, superheroes are not just taking over our big and small screens, superhero merchandising and gaming, from video games to superheroes themed casino games have led the way, in recent time.

With the continued successes of superhero franchises across movie, TV, merchandise and gaming industries, 2018 is looking like another massive year for our favourite heroic crime-fighting superhuman characters, and leading the anticipation for next year is none other than X-Men: The New Mutants.

Announced as far back as 2015 and set for release on April 13, 2018, the forthcoming X-Men spinoff movie X-Men: The New Mutants is the latest in the long line of moves by FOX to expand its X-Men movie universe in a massive way.

However Fox’s expansion of the X-Men franchise has not been restricted to the cinematic universe, as we have noticed that The X-Men have slowly been making their way back into Marvel Gaming and Marvel Merchandise, all under the control of the Marvel Comics Creative Committee, with Marvel TV and FOX studios also seemingly back on good terms.

Reports suggest that The X-Men are now part of the Marvel Future Fight video game, and that they will also be making an appearance in the upcoming Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite video game, with Wolverine and other X-Men comics returning to Marvel Comics.

Directed by The Fault In Our StarsJosh Boone, and co-written with Knate Gwaltney, The New Mutants is one of three X-Men movies that will be released in 2018, alongside Deadpool 2 on June 1, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, not to mention the Gambit spinoff, set for release in February 2019.

The New Mutants is the eleventh instalment of the X-Men film series, with the 10 films before it, earning a whooping $4.99 billion at the box office, and making the franchise, the seventh highest-grossing film series of all time. The New Mutants comes on the back of the critically acclaimed third and final ‘Wolverine’ film Logan, which made over $610 million at the box office.
