Years & Years – Palo Santo | New Music

British band Years & Years have released their third single titled “Palo Santo” from their upcoming second album of the same name, a follow-up from previous singles “Sanctify” and the catchy “If You’re Over Me”.

“Palo Santo” is a synth-pop ballad track written by Olly Alexander and Sarah Hudson. It was also engineered by Michael Freeman. The song is about a boy talking with his boyfriend or crush about the what it means to him and his past with other boys.

The trio, composed of an LGTBI+ icon, Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen are described as a synthpop band who encorporate 90’s house elements. The band released their debut album Communion in 2015 with big hits like “King”, “Take Shelter”, “Real” and “Shine”.

I was born in a small island where the nature is special, Gran Canaria. When I was a child, I felt that I wasn't like the rest. I spent my childhood around music and many films and books.

When I grew up, I focused my vision in other countries and I found love in different cultures like British, American, Japanese, Korean, etc. Once time I read that “it’s no always necessary to be strong, but to feel strong”, and because of that, I consider myself a very rebel, adventuress and creative person.
