Still riding the wave from his Hardcore N Hi-Tech mixtape, Southside returns with another effort under his Young Sizzle moniker. Produced by fellow 808 Mafia representative, DY, “Fiji” is quite a full on effort. The name and the accompanying image of the track suggests, perhaps, it is intended to be a summertime release, but it is, indeed, very much otherwise.
An ominous piano loop and rattling drum machine underpin the track, the latter of which includes some booming bass drum, to boot. The raps are high octane, hardcore and are definitely relentless. It partially fades out at the two minute mark, and a carries on, very low in the mix, for almost a further minute.
