Yves Saint Laurent Exhibition To Be Held At The Bowes Museum | Fashion News

 

The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, County Durham is set to host the UK’s first ‘comprehensive display of Yves Saint Laurentโ€™s life and work’ in an exhibition entitledย Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal. Running from July 11 to October 25, the museum will showcase fifty of the most memorable garments which revolutionized womenswear during the French designer’s 50-year career,ย including pieces from his Russian collection, Mondrian dresses and female tuxedos.

 

Pierre Bergรฉ, president of the Pierre Bergรฉ-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation,ย described The Bowes Museum as “the perfect setting for us – a museum built as a French chateau, in the age of the Second Empire“. Bergรฉ, the former partner ofย Yves Saint Laurent, also said of Saint Laurent’s legacy:ย “If Chanel gave women their freedom, it was Saint Laurent who empowered them“.
