Zooey Deschanel Talks About Daughter Elsie Otter On ‘Ellen’ | TV News

Our favourite ‘new girl’ is a new mum, which apparently makes Zooey Deschanel even more fun to be around! The actress talked to Ellen DeGeneres about her daughter, revealing the cute “pterodactyl sounds” her baby girl makes as well as how she and husband Jacob Pechenik came up with her unusual name.

When Ellen joked if ‘Otter’ was a family name, Deschanel replied with her usual sense of humour: “In the sense that we’re all mammals. No, we thought Elsie is kind of a classic name, a lot of people have grandmas and aunts named Elsie. And then we were like, the middle name can be a little bit…wild”.

She described her daughter as “freaking cute” and how she sees her as the most fragile thing in the world which, of course, must apply to every new mum.
