The cast for Clint Eastwood’s next directorial outing is rapidly coming together. After having the biggest hit of his career with American Sniper, Eastwood has wisely decided to use the same technique and chronicle another American hero (although one far less controversial) – in this case, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who safely landed a plane on New York’s Hudson River back in 2009 after technical malfunctions.
The movie is being adapted from Sullenberger’s own autobiography Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters by up and coming screenwriter Todd Karminicki, whose most notable credit so far is being a producer on Will Ferrell‘s christmas classic Elf. With Tom Hanks already on board in the title role, Aaron Eckhart is expecting to join him in the cockpit as co-pilot Jeff Skiles. After having his career become defined recently by generic action movies such as I, Frankenstein and Olympus Has Fallen, going toe-to-toe with Tom Hanks in what sounds like an intense drama should hopefully propel Aaron Eckhart firmly back into the A-list.
