Star of the hit Amazon show Transparent Amy Landecker has just been cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Doctor Strange. She will be joining a cast that already includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen and Michael Stuhlbarg. Landecker was last seen in Project Almanac and Enough Said, and the second season on Transparent debuts on Amazon Instant this December.
Like much of the film’s cast, Landecker’s role in the fantasy superhero film remains shrouded in secrecy. There is currently no word on casting on prominent Strange supporting character Clea (or if she’s even in the movie), and McAdams is already rumoured to be playing the role of Christine Palmer AKA Night Nurse. Only time will tell if the role will be filled by Landecker, McAdams, someone else, or no one at all.
Doctor Strange is currently filming for a release date of November 4 2016. Directed by Sinister‘s Scott Derrickson from a script by Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts, the film tells the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) who goes on a quest to fix his damaged hands after a horrific car accident. He ends up under the tutelage of The Ancient One (Swinton), where he is taught the mystical arts in order to become The Sorceror Supreme.
