The next live-action adaptation of Disney’s classics won’t be out until March, 2017 but today the studio unveiled the first trailer for the film, which stars a star-studded cast led by Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey).
The footage pays tribute to the original 1991 animation introducing its emblematic setting starting with the castle, which then becomes Disney’s logo. We also get a wide shot of the ballroom, which was one of the first 3D sequences and move next to the portrait of the prince. The place slowly comes to live to welcome its new guest and we are treated to a first look of our titular heroine, Belle (Watson).
Beauty and the Beast also stars sir Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and others. The film is directed by Bill Condon and will mark Emma Watson’s second collaboration with Stephen Chbosky, who shares script duties here with Evan Spiliotopoulos, working together to adapt Linda Woolverton‘s 1991 script.
