Coming back after 16 years must not be easy: a lot of expectations and hype surround The Avalanches‘ new project Wildflower, coming almost two decades after the critically-acclaimed debut Since I Left You.
After having debuted the first single “Frankie Sinatra” – an infectious over-looped electro swing jingle featuring rappers Danny Brown and MF Doom – and having previewed some of their new tracks at Field Day, the Australian electronic band released a new single.
“If I Was A Folkstar” features guest appearance from chillwave superstar Toro Y Moi, and the single seems heavily inspired by the atmosphere of Bundick’s latest work. As a matter of fact, the track is a feel-good and breezy track, which leave aside the compulsive looping of “Frankie Sinatra” in favour of an airy instrumental perfect for long trips along the coast.
Listen to the track here and get ready for Wildflower, due out on July 8 via XL Recordings.
