Kaydee comes with his latest video, “Talk That”, a track featuring Same $Shift. The Toronto native released his debut project in 2014, and has shared the stage with such acts as Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies, Jazz Cartier and many more. He released an EP in March of this year, The Prelude, and has also taken time out to raise his young son.
“Talk That” has bottomless bass and ominous melody. The raps are tightly packed, adjoined with the rattle and clap of drum. The sung hook is lazy and laidback. It seems to evoke the musical equivalent of a hangover, the joy gone as all the fun was had the previous night.
The visuals, by RodZilla and in association with Pro League Films, seem to evoke that feeling accordingly. The protagonist wakes up sitting on a park bench, and the rest of the video appears to be him recounting the previous day’s proceedings. A wild night finding him hungover on a park bench, basically. Refreshing in that it does not glamourize excess.
