Straight Outta Compton which is a biopic based on the lives of legendary Hip Hop group N.W.A has cast actors to play Dr. Dre and Eazy-E. The name of the film comes from the group’s 1998 album, and the original members of the group have been able to provide input on who they want to play them in the film, with Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright having the final approval on who would play her husband.
Jason Mitchell will play Eazy-E after an interesting screen test, while Ice Cube put forward his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play him as a teenager. Dr. Dre will be played by Marcus Callender (HBO’s Criminal Justice), a role previously offered to Michael B. Jordan who turned down the role due to scheduling conflicts. Production for the film has already begun and will be directed by F. Gary Gray.
