Music meets fashion, Coachella has kickstarted the festival season for 2017. Held at The Empire Polo Club in Indio, swarms of celebrities, music industry pros and keen festival goers flocked to California for the start of the three day festivities.
After a major technical set on Radiohead’s headline slot, it seems the main stage had its difficulties last night. However, I’ve picked three of my highlights from day one and the buzz created across socials.
Making their Coachella debut New Zealand duo, Broods, took to the Mojave stage to perform, to the 1,000 strong audience, a number of their catchy electro-pop hits including “Bridges” and “Heartlines”.
As night fell across the desert, the haunting songstress, Banks, took to the Gobi stage. Revealing her brand new never seen before line-up of tracks, she filled the tent as she played her latest release, “Crowded Places”, from her most recent album, Altar.
Hitting the Main Stage last night, favourites, The xx, are dominating the Summer of festival line-ups. Playing through their showreel of songs across their albums, including tracks from their new album, I See You. They also coincided their show with drones taking to the sky to create a light performance which shone across the festival.
