Bristol-based singer-songwriter Sean Christopher recently premiered a very simple yet unconventional video for his current single “A Thousand Hues” and it’s a live rendition of the original, guitar driven, acoustic folk track.
In this new video, directed and shot by Job Antoni, Christopher brings the term “taking the scenic route” to life and gives it a whole new meaning. The one-take video was filmed in Auvergne, on the road to Brioude, France with him performing the impressive feat of playing “A Thousand Hues” acoustically while walking backwards. You actually witness cars driving past in the process. Brave.
However, the song itself is a heartbreaking one inspired by real life tragedy:
“I read a story a few years ago about a Japanese man who lost his wife during the Tsunami back in 2011. He could not find her on land and decided to take diving lessons to search the sea. I was really moved by it and ‘A Thousand Hues’ was written soon after.”
Sean Christopher has been immersed in music all his life. An alumni of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and Codarts in Rotterdam, he was creating music for films and commercials after graduating. In 2014 his song “Everything“, composed and produced for an international car commercial, began to get him noticed, reaching a million streams on Spotify.
“A Thousand Hues” is the third track to be taken from Sean’s debut album Yonder – out May 11 – and follows previous singles “Carry On” and “Paper Plane Pilot“.
