Rising Leicester-based producer and artist Scott Xylo has shared new cut “Ariya“, the very first drop of his own music after signing to Bristol label Black Acre. And it’s clearly a big deal as he invites Afronaut Zu, Catherine Sera and Marcus Joseph to feature.
Scott Xylo immediately sets a mood in “Ariya”, exploring afrofuturism and surrealism to create a modern sound with a very vintage feel. Shuffling beats and clicks underpin the sashaying keyboard melody over which soulful, afrocentric vocals shine, welcoming one and all who may choose to listen. And to further top it all off , we are treated to even a sultry sax solo to keep things very sweet.
A slick and slippery groove with tons of West African flavour, it hails eclectic aesthetic of contemporaries like Mo Kolours and MNDSGN, whilst taking influence from Funkadelic and the extra-terrestrial adventures of Sun Ra.
