On Sunday night, the rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been arrested along with his four associates by Federal Authorities due to a number of racketeering, weapons and drug charges.
The Brooklyn-based rapper, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, has appeared in court on Monday (November 19). His family was present during the arraignment. Hernandez was denied bailed and is said to remain in custody pending trial.
Aside from the rapper, ex-manager Kifano “Shottie” Jordan, Faheem “Crippy” Walter, Jensel “Ish” Butler and Jamel “Mel Murda” Jones have also been arrested and face the same charges stemming from the sale of heroin, fentanyl, MDMA and marijuana, prosecutors said.
Assistant US Attorney Michael Longyear has said at the arraignment: “[Hernandez] is a member of a violent sect of the Bloods. This defendant participated in multiple acts of violence.”
One month ago, Hernandez avoided jail and was instead registered as a sex offender by pleading guilty in a 2015 sexual misconduct case involving an underaged girl.
The rapper has also been accused for choking a 16-year-old girl and assaulting a police officer. Moreover, the latest offences of Hernandez and four of his associates include armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, and racketeering that led to their arrest on Sunday night.
However, the rapper has just released his debut album Dummy Boy last Friday and a couple of hours before his arrest, he announced the release date for the album that features artists such as Nicki Minaj and Kanye West.
If convicted of all the charges, the artist will face a minimum of 32 years in prison, with the potential of a life sentence.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club Tekashi 6ix9ine had said: “Only two things I’m scared of in life, God first and the FBI”.
