Shrimps’ creative director Hannah Weiland has ditched her signature faux fur in favour of summer clothing as part of a new collaboration with British high street retailer Warehouse. She really appreciated the unique aesthetic of the brand which differs from others.
“I really like the Britishness of the brand and its unique style,” she shares. “The Warehouse business model isn’t about copying young designers, which is very important to me. I had to respect the company in order to commit.” She also explained how she was inspired by a hot summer’s day in Europe. “A glamorous beach day drinking Campari Spritz under a striped umbrella, sitting on a gingham towel and playing Scrabble.”
An initial six-hour design session threw up exciting opportunities for Weiland to develop products that Shrimps hadn’t explored before, such as hats, swimwear, jewellery and shoes (something she had only dabbled in with Converse).
It’s been very exciting times for Hannah over the past year, between her fabulous wedding in the grounds of her family home in Wiltshire, the celebration of her first foray into homeware with Habitat, and now signing up for her first high-street collaboration. “I was on a roll,” she grins.
The Holiday Edit will be available in Warehouse stores and online from mid-April. The collection ranges from T-shirts and sundresses to jewellery and beach bags. Price start at £15. Check out some of the stand out pieces from the collection below.
