Disney has dropped a dark new teaser for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the long-awaited sequel to Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie, which was released in 2014, and went on to become a huge hit.
According to Disney, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil “continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within“.
Jolie reprises her role as our favourite villain ‘Maleficent’ alongside Elle Fanning’s Princess Aurora. The sequel confirms new and returning characters played by an impressive talent: Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sam Riley, Harris Dickinson, Ed Skrein, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville, a few of whom show up in the trailer.
As we can see in the trailer, the movie seems darker and broodier, and the evil laugh is there too. Joachim Rønning directs the film, and it’s scheduled to release on October 18. The movie will arrive just in time for Halloween and will surely be one of this fall’s biggest releases.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is one of the few scary movies aimed at children of all ages, and may probably dominate the box office like its predecessor. For our viewing pleasure, Disney has also dropped some images for the movie.
